FRANCE - FRANCE Third Republic (1870-1940). Medal, Charles-Jean-Melchior marquis de Vogüé, by Pierre-Victor Dautel 1909, Paris (Maurice Koller). Bronze - 224 g - 118 mm - 12 h Cast by Maurice Koller in Paris, inscribed "-Koller-1-" on the edge. A few spots of corrosion. Superb. Charles-Jean-Melchior marquis de Vogüé (1829-1916) sat in chair 18 of the Académie française from 1901 to 1916, chaired the Société de secours aux blessés militaires and the Société des agriculteurs de France. He was a specialist in the numismatics of the Crusades, a subject on which he published several articles in the Revue Numismatique between 1856 and 1877.
