This poster is one of the original posters produced by the artist himself, and not a reproduction. It is therefore a large, original, period colour lithograph signed on the stone.
Of all the tourism and exhibition posters produced by the artist, this one is by far the most spectacular. This is why it features on the cover of the catalogue raisonné.
It was commissioned by the French Tourist Board to promote Nice and, indirectly, tourist destinations along the Mediterranean coast, particularly the Côte d’Azur (Cannes, Menton, St Tropez, Saint-Raphaël, Hyères, Èze…), in other countries.
