Description
A substantial carved, moulded and patinated walnut lectern, featuring an eagle with outstretched wings perched upon a globe. It rests on a tripod base richly decorated with Corinthian capitals, broken shells and scrolls. The whole is supported by curved legs with scrollwork.

Provenance:
According to family tradition, this lectern is said to have come from the former Maladrerie convent, located in the Yonne department between Joigny and Senan. After the convent was destroyed during the Revolution, it is said to have been preserved by Father Allard, then parish priest of the church.
