PARIS or NORTHERN FRANCE – Second half of the 17th century
An exceptional two-section cabinet in the form of an architecturally styled cupboard, made of burl walnut and ebony.
The lower section opens via two doors surmounted by two belt drawers, whilst the upper section features fourteen drawers in three rows, one of which is concealed, framing a door flanked by two columns with Corinthian capitals in pewter and gilded bronze marquetry.
The central section features fourteen drawers and a veneered wood niche.
Beautiful gilded bronze ornamentation and pewter marquetry decorated with friezes of columns, foliage and balusters.
Large four-legged plinth base.
Louis XIV period.

The drawers bear old labels with handwritten inscriptions in black ink such as ‘Mme de T Mémoires’ or ‘Mme de T Affaires courantes’
Normal wear and tear, a few minor losses.
Note:
With its architecturally designed tripartite front and its bronze fittings, this cabinet bears similarities to the works of Pierre GOLE from the second half of the 17th century.
