PARIS, c. 1720 A fine pair of carved beech armchairs with high backs, known as ‘Queen-style’ chairs. The backrest is carved in the shape of a gendarme’s hat, the armrests are recessed in a whip-like curve, the scroll-carved belt and the slightly arched legs are finished with snail-shaped volutes. Rich and delicate carving of lambrequins and scallop shells on a honeycomb lattice background. Regency period. Height: 110 cm Width: 71 cm Depth: 60 cm Restored as required, upholstered in modern green damask.
