Jean VITROLLE or VITROLLES, born in 1660 in Mende, admitted to the Guild on 10 January 1706.
Violin-shaped wall-mounted clock with a console in so-called “Boulle” marquetry of brass, mother-of-pearl and stained wood, decorated with floral motifs, interlaced foliage and post friezes, surmounted by a draped shepherdess in gilded bronze.
The circular dial in chiselled and gilded bronze, with fourteen enamelled hour markers in Roman numerals, signed “Vitrolles” and located in “Paris”.
Beautiful gilded bronze ornamentation featuring stylised acanthus leaves, scalloped cartouches, mascarons, ribbons and a quiver trophy.
Signed movement.
Regency period, early 18th century.
