Description
A so-called "Parisian" chest of drawers in moulded walnut with a curved front, featuring four drawers in three rows, the top two framing a faux keyhole. The side panels are slightly rounded. Bronze ornamentation, such as the lock plate and handles. Regency period. Height: 80 cm Width: 126 cm Depth: 160 cm Note: Known as the “Parisian chest of drawers”, this design enjoyed great popularity and was produced, with a few adaptations, for many years. Albert Maumené reports in *La Vie à la Campagne* that each of the thirteen pavilions at the Domaine de Marly, Louis XIV’s country residence, was furnished with this model of chest of drawers.
