Description
Jean-Georges SCHLICHTIG, appointed master craftsman in Paris on 2 October 1765, died in February 1782. Rectangular drop-front chest of drawers in veneered wood on an amaranth background, decorated with marquetry depicting vases of flowers and a musical trophy within framed borders. The front, with a central projection, opens to reveal two drawers. The rounded legs feature simulated fluting. It stands on four slightly arched feet. Beautiful gilded bronze ornamentation, including spurs, lock plates, lamp bases and pull knobs. Moulded white veined marble top with a cavetto moulding. Stamped. Louis XV–Louis XVI transition period Height: 86.5 cm Width: 95 cm Depth: 47.5 cm. Normal wear and tear.
