Description
Officer’s sword. Tapered hilt with grooved mother-of-pearl plates. Chiselled and gilded brass mountings, single-bar guard, crook-shaped pommel, and a guard decorated with allegorical figures and a sword within a laurel wreath. Triangular blade, engraved, gilded and blued to one-third. A.B.E. SF. Circa 1810–1820. The presence of the sword and the laurel wreath evokes the general staff and adjutant-commanders.
