IRAN, Early 20th century A fine, rather delicate and antique Mahal Mouchkabad. Wool velvet on a cotton backing. Beautiful design (patterns without a central medallion, a sought-after decorative motif). Brick-red field decorated with a mosaic of palmettes and geometrically stylised flower bulbs in polychrome, surrounded by finely drawn, symmetrical, crenellated foliage in twisted patterns.
