COMMEMORATIVE MEDALLION
IN MEMORY OF THE MARRIAGE OF THE DAUPHIN OF FRANCE
(1754–1793) AND ARCHDUCESS MARIE
ANTOINETTE OF AUSTRIA (1755–1793).
Round in shape, made of pressed and gilded tortoiseshell, depicting
this historic scene bordered by a laurel frieze and bearing
the inscription ‘CLAUDENTUR BELLI PORTAE’, preserved
in an antique carved, blackened and gilded wooden frame
topped with a ribbon bow.
18th-century French work.
Signs of age, but in good overall condition.
