COMMEMORATIVE SILVER CUP
TO MARK THE CORONATION OF KING LOUIS XVI.
Round in shape, resting on a pedestal base, decorated
with a series of eight silver pieces of varying sizes bearing the effigies
of Kings Louis XIII, Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI
surrounded by a garland of laurel and oak leaves,
topped by the engraved inscription ‘de Breteuil, 1776 ’
and adorned in the centre with a commemorative silver coin
marking the coronation of King Louis XVI, celebrated in Reims on 11 June
1775, signed by Pierre-Simon Duvivier (1730–1819) and Jacques
Edouard Gatteaux (1788–1881).
Slight signs of age, but in good overall condition.
French work from the late 18th century.
