the year 1829. Manuscript text dating from Monday 18 May 1829
to 12 December 1829, comprising 153 pages containing, for each

‘His Highness was a little tired, but he was in good
spirits’, ‘His Highness was a little distracted’, ‘His Highness
repeted the states of the German Confederation well. As a
reward, we spoke of Mr d’Urville’s expedition
sent in search of La Pérouse, with the map before his eyes”, “A
little distracted”, “Very poor lesson”, “Walk to Calvary from
10 am to 3 pm”, “Wrote a fable under dictation for the first time, 6

period, very good lesson”, “French composition: excellent”,
“In drawing: little attention”, etc. The collection is preserved
in its beautiful original binding in dark green calfskin, decorated in the
centre of each cover with the coat of arms in gold of the daughter
of the Duke and Duchess of Berry, the young Louise d’Artois,
future Duchess of Parma (1819–1864), the prince’s elder sister,
surrounded by two branches of natural-coloured lilies held together by a
ribbon and crowned with a ducal crown, framed by a broad
gilded scroll and at each corner by a fleur-de-lis, ribbed spine
decorated with fleurs-de-lis, title and date in gold lettering, gilt edges
. Binding unsigned, but probably by Simier
or Bozerian, Italian format (330x230 mm). Age-related wear
to the corners, but in good overall condition.
