Description
VERMEIL CIGARETTE CASE.
By ISAKOFF, Saint Petersburg, 1890.
Rectangular in shape, with rounded corners, entirely
in red enamel; the hinged lid is engraved with a
dedication: ‘To dear Papa from Baby, Maxi, Erik, 27 October
1891’, and opens at the front via a
vermeil push-button; interior in vermeil. Restoration
and signs of age, but in good condition.
Hallmark: 84, Saint Petersburg, before 1890.
Silversmith’s mark: Michael Isakoff, active from 1889 to 1899.
H.: 9 cm - W.: 6.5 cm - D.: 2 cm.
Gross weight: 36 g.
History: a gift presented to Prince Waldemar of Denmark (1858–1939),
brother of Empress Maria Feodorovna of Russia, by his sons Princes Aage
(1887–1940), Axel and Erik (1890–1950), on the occasion of his 33rd birthday.
