Description
ROYAL HOUSE OF ORLEANS.
A collection of correspondence, documents, visiting cards and
press cuttings concerning the Count of Paris, his wife and
their children, including autograph letters signed by Madame
Estranvelin, Mademoiselle Appert, Noémie de Ravinel,
Aline d’Harcourt, ladies-in-waiting to the Countess of Paris,
Countess of Butler, sent on their behalf to Adèle Dudon
(1844–1909), governess to the children of France at the Château
d’Eu, dating from 1875 to 1897; some letters are on
letterhead from the Palacio de Villamanrique, Rue de Varenne
(the address of the Count and Countess of Paris), the Château d’Eu
and Sheen House. Also included is a series of telegrams dated
from 1886 to 1908 sent by Queen Amélie of Portugal and her
chamberlain, the Count of Sabugosa, to Adèle Dudon, and a booklet
entitled ‘Exile: Departure of His Lordship the Count of Paris
from Eu-Tréport, 24 June 1886’.
