THE LIBRARY OF THE BARON DE BARANTE.
HARCOURT, Marquise Georges d’. Her Ladyship the Duchess
of Orléans, Hélène of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, published in Paris,
by Michel Levy Frères, 1859, half-leather binding of
the period, smooth spine in blue calfskin, title in gold lettering, 4to, with
an autograph dedication by the author addressed to Baron Amable
de Barante: ‘Presented to Mr de Barante, in memory of friendship and
gratitude, Mr Auclaire d’Harcourt’ and bearing on the
half-title page the bookplate of the ‘Bibliothèque de Mr de Barante’.

Original Letters from the Duchess of Orléans, Hélène de
Mecklenburg-Schwerin, published in Paris by H. Georg,
1859, contemporary half-leather binding, smooth spine in blue calfskin, title
in gold lettering, in-4°, bearing on the flyleaf the bookplate of the
‘Bibliothèque de Mr de Barante’.
Slight signs of age.
Provenance: former collection of Amable-Guillaume-Prosper Brugière,
Baron de Barante (1782–1866), who was a French historian, writer, diplomat and
politician.
