Description
RENOIR, Auguste (1841–1919).
Large autograph signature. No place, no date [September 1918, in
response to the previous letter]. 1/2 p. in-4. Black ink.
Auguste Renoir sent his friend, the painter André Albert,
his signature, which he had drawn in black across the entire width of a
sheet of paper. Albert was at the time writing a book devoted to Renoir, which he
had published in 1928 (Paris, G. Crès & Cie). This iconic signature,
requested from Renoir by Albert, was chosen to
appear on the front cover and on the
title page. A fine item, suitable for framing.
