ANNE, Duchess of Uzès,
née Rochechouart de Mortemart (1847–1933)
A set comprising three photographic portraits
depicting her at various stages of her life, one of which is signed
‘Otto à Paris’, with a handwritten dedication in his own hand at the
bottom of the document, the programme for an evening reception held at
Buckingham Palace on 31 May 1889, a letter on the letterhead of
the Automobile Club de France signed by its president and dated
6 April 1903, thanking the Duchess for her participation
in the motor car elegance competition at the 5th
International Motor Show, a letter signed by the
Ministry of Public Instruction awarding the Duchess
of Uzès the Order of the Legion of Honour in the rank of Officer,
in her capacity as president of the Union of Women Painters and
Sculptors. Enclosed is a handwritten draft of a speech,
entitled ‘Sciences’, running to 7 pages, and the text of a lecture on
‘Rambouillet and its Forest’, running to 57 pages. Slight traces of damp,
creases, but in good overall condition.
