Formerly owned by Adolphe Thiers (1797–1877),
President of the French Republic from 1871 to 1873.
In marquetry, rectangular in shape, with
bevelled corners, and a gilded brass border. The lid
opens via a hinge at the front using a key and features
interlaced initials in gilded bronze
A. T. (Adolphe Thiers). Interior with compartments
in mahogany, containing mother-of-pearl game pieces.
