Description
BALL BOOK.
Rectangular in shape, made of ivory, with a finely chiselled gold frame
decorated with scrolls and foliage; on one side, it features a
miniature portrait preserved under a domed glass cover, depicting
a young woman wearing a wreath of flowers, and on
the other side a miniature portrait, also preserved under
glass, depicting an older woman who may be the
same person. The upper part is decorated on each side with
the inscription ‘Souvenir d’amitié’; it opens via a
push-button, revealing a three-leaf notebook.
The pencil is missing; there is slight wear from age, but it is in good condition.
French work from the first half of the 18th century.
