Description
MAXIMILIAN, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe (1898–1974). A cigarette case that belonged to the prince, made of hammered silver, rectangular and domed in shape, with rounded corners, hinged lid opening via a side clasp, with appliqué decoration of the monogram MSL beneath a princely crown in gold, featuring a compartment for matches and a lighter, interior in vermeil, engraved with the German inscription ‘Helmut, 1921’. Signs of age, small dents. No mark or hallmark visible. H: 10.5 cm – W: 7 cm – D: 2 cm. Gross weight: 186 g Provenance: sale of the Schloss Monrepos collection, Stuttgart, Sotheby’s, 2000.
