Portrait of Germaine de Staël, née Necker (1766–1817).
Drypoint engraving based on the portrait painted by the artist
at the Château de Coppet in 1816 and engraved in 1817, with a dedication
in graphite at the bottom of the document: ‘Madame la Baronne
de Staël-Holstein to Madame Le Sindic Necker & to Madame’,
preserved under glass in its original carved and gilded wooden frame
decorated with a frieze of water leaves.
Age spots, small losses to the frame.
