The start of the 100-metre race.
Print on paper, ‘First proof’, signed
in the lower right-hand corner with the artist’s initials A D S in graphite,
preserved under glass in its original carved and gilded wooden frame,
signed by Maison Léon Biziot in Paris.
Signs of age, damage to the frame.

Provenance: former collection of the artist; bears on the reverse his
handwritten signature, his collector’s stamp with his Paris home address, and several
exhibition labels, including one from the exhibition organised in London in July 1948 by the British
