Description
MARIE-LOUISE OF AUSTRIA
Mainz, 28 July 1813.
Autograph letter signed ‘Louise’ to Cambacérès.
1½ pages, in-8.
Thanking him for the news he has given her, she hastens, in return, to tell him of her brief encounter in Mainz with the Emperor, who ‘arrived in good health and not tired; he has even put on weight. He is very happy and is still very busy. ’ As for herself, her ‘health is still good; however, I am still quite tired from the journey and the poor road we encountered from Metz to Mainz.’
She fears ‘that the Emperor will not stay here for long; this thought saddens me greatly.’
Finally, she thanks him “for the news you have given me about my son; knowing that he is well is essential for my peace of mind. ”
