Description
MERMOZ Jean L.A.S. ‘Jean’, Toulouse, Sunday [23 February 1930], to his ‘beloved Mum’; 1½ pages, in-4. Seaplane test flights from Saint-Laurent-de-la-Sénanque to the Étang de Berre. He has returned from Perpignan, ‘where I had been for two days to carry out test flights on my aircraft, which is now fully ready. But the snow is falling and the tramontane has been blowing fiercely for eight days now. It’s impossible even to launch the aircraft. Mr Daurat has therefore decided that I shall carry out the trials in Marseille, and we shall take the aircraft to Berre at the first sign of a lull.
