RARE PARACHUTE BELONGING TO JEAN MERMOZ The Aviorex Type 801, circa 1935 Riveted aluminium frame, serial number ‘83’, with a red leather back panel stamped in gold with ‘L’Aviorex Mermoz 801’. Canvas and red leather harness with an aluminium release lever and an enamelled iron buckle marked ‘PARACHUTES AVIOREX TYPE 801 50 RUE DU BOIS CLICHY/SEINE’ White silk parachute contained in a beige canvas bag, reinforced with brown leather, with a stainless steel fastening system marked ‘PARACHUTE AVIOREX’. 53 x 41 cm With its beige canvas packing bag marked ‘AVIOREX’ in gold on both sides. Various inspection stamps: ‘CONTROLED BY’ and ‘1 JUN 1935’.
