Description
MERMOZ Jean
Autograph letter signed ‘Jean’, Toulouse, Saturday [April 1933], to his ‘Beloved Mum’; 3½ pages, in-8.
He is setting off again the next day ‘for Casa. The official test commission arrives in Toulouse tomorrow and will be in Perpignan on Tuesday. Daurat has asked me to take over the transatlantic service again. Things are in a mess, the pilots are young, there are accidents… and naturally Mermoz is there to make his mark. Anyway, I can’t refuse him, and besides, time passes more quickly that way. Anyway, next week is going to be a busy one… I’ve had enough of it.”
He is delighted that his mother is feeling better, and advises her to start walking slowly again…
He has received ‘a gold medal for the cigarettes from Buenos Aires. I’m thinking of setting up a tobacconist’s where Gilberte will be the cashier’. He has had no news from Pauvert…
