Following Mermoz’s indictment after a demonstration by the French Social Party for “renewal of a dissolved league”. Letter signed by Léon BATHIAT, Louis GAUBERT, Louis PAULHAN, Constant VANDAMME and Georges ZARAPOFF. “No political issues. France above all! You have been the standard-bearer of French aviation – the real thing – abroad. We, the old-timers, thank you for this, and we ask you to accept our wholehearted affection, in the face of the trials and indignities to which a Government is subjecting you. We congratulate you on your courage, stand with you wholeheartedly and accompany you with deep affection, both over the oceans and in the corridors of an investigating magistrate’s court”… Source: - Jean Mermoz (1901–1936); - Gabrielle Gillet-Mermoz (1880–1955); - Passed down through the family
