Gilded bronze and brown patina bronze mantel set including a table clock and a pair of torches. The oblong ormolu base decorated with musical attributes features a pediment with a white enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic numerals signed "Denière à Paris", flanked by pilasters. The upper part in brown patina bronze depicts three musician lovers playing tambourines. Each torch features a cherub standing on a rocaille mound and holding a branch-shaped arm of light. Movement signed "Denière à Paris". Napoleon III period. (torches drilled for electrification, without movement) Dimensions : H: 51.5 cm. Width of pendulum: 53 cm. Depth: 24 cm. Jean-François Denière (1774-1866) was one of the most important bronzemakers in Paris. He worked in particular for the Garde-Meuble impérial.
