The Théâtre de l’Odéon, known since March 1990 as the Odéon–Théâtre de l’Europe, is a French theatre situated on Place de l’Odéon, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Opened in 1782, it originally hosted the Théâtre-Français company. Since September 1971, it has been one of France’s six national theatres. Its current director is Julien Gosselin (since 15 July 2024). Architecturally, it is an Italian-style theatre with neoclassical façades. It has been listed as a historic monument since 7 October 1947. Its history has been marked by: two fires, in 1799 and 1818; the public premiere of *The Marriage of Figaro* in 1784; and Jean-Louis Barrault’s directorship and the occupation of the premises during the events of May 1968.
