We would like to thank Breitling Heritage for their kind cooperation.
Bearing the winged emblem of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), this Breitling Navitimer 806 belonged to a former French aerobatic pilot active in the 1950s and is being offered on the market for the first time. According to family tradition, this watch was presented to its owner by the Esbly Flying Club, where he worked as a flight instructor until the early 1960s. Preserved by his descendants since his passing, this chronograph boasts a provenance that is particularly appealing to enthusiasts of watchmaking and aviation.
Following the first Navitimers reserved for AOPA members, Breitling launched the 806 model in 1956, fitted with the famous hand-wound Venus 178 calibre. Produced until the early 1970s, this model remains the most iconic vintage Navitimer to this day. With its ‘all-black’ dial and ‘beads of rice’ bezel, our example displays the typical characteristics of models produced prior to 1963. Accompanied by its most recent service invoice dated 2003, this watch is being offered on the market for the first time.
