Description
A rosewood chest of drawers, the sides recessed, the top decorated with ironwork, resting on rounded uprights with double fluting, an Ionic capital and a bulge with a Mercury mask, opening to three drawers with lock escutcheons decorated with sphinxes; (restorations). Attributed to Thomas Hache (1664-1747) Louis XV period H. 86 cm, W. 134 cm, D. 68.5 cm Bibliography P. and F. Rouge, Le génie des Hache, Dijon, 2005, n° 93 and n°102. Although none of the similar chests of drawers listed bear the stamp of Thomas Hache, one of the main reference works (op. cit.) firmly attributes this model to the cabinetmaker. However, it is worth remembering that there were several talented cabinetmakers in Grenoble in the 18th century, notably François Mondon (1687-1742), whose signature "Mondon à Grenoble" is rarely found. A document certifying that this chest of drawers is indeed the work of Thomas Hache drawn up by Madame Françoise Rouge dated 14 November 2014 will be given to the buyer.
