Description
A pair of moulded mahogany armchairs with flat backs, the cylindrical arms resting on balusters with capitals, the back legs sabre-shaped and the front legs double balusters; with an old label handwritten in ink: Mr. l'ambassadeur de Prusse. Stamped by Jacob D. R. Meslée Empire period H. 94 cm, L. 60 cm Provenance : The Prussian ambassador under the First Empire. Most probably the Prussian ambassador to France Girolamo Lucchesini (1751-1825), who lived in rue Cerruti (now rue Laffite) between 1800 and 1806.
