Studio stamp in the bottom left-hand corner (L. 5671) In his book published in 1969, John Couper refers to this stamp, which he describes as a facsimile of the signature, and writes that it was probably reserved for Mrs Lépine (J. Couper, Stanislas Lépine 1835–1892. His Life and Work, Paris 1969, p. 30).
On the reverse, on the backing board which is now missing, a pen inscription: La plaine St Denis / formerly / drawing by Lépine
