Exhibition:
Paris, Chambre syndicale de la curiosité et des Beaux-Arts, “First collectors’ exhibition in aid of the Société des Amis du Luxembourg”, 10 March to 10 April 1924, No. 165 (label on the reverse of the stretcher bar stating “Mr Georges Menier, 61 rue de Monceau, Paris” as the owner).
The work is documented by a photograph held at the Musée d’Orsay (Inv. No. PHO 1986.130.167), in which the painting appears on the walls of the Hôtel de Jarnac in Paris, owned by Georges Menier from 1930 onwards. This great collector and his wife, née Simone Legrand (1881–1972), were close friends of Jacqueline Marval.
