A sketchbook containing thirty-seven wash drawings (probably from the Grand Tour) depicting mainly scenes of life in France and Italy, including romantic scenes, almsgiving, crossing riverbanks, fishing, pilgrimages, returning to the city, farmsteads, rest and various other subjects.
Rare drawings monogrammed ‘V. D.’ and dated. The collection is contained in a sketchbook bearing a label reading ‘TERZUOLO Papetier de l’Empereur’ and bearing the handwritten inscription ‘Commenced on 1 July 1812’.
