Description
A pair of armchairs with flat ‘gendarme’ backs, made of beech wood finely carved with an interlaced frieze and a row of pearls. Tapered legs with fluted sides, topped with connecting blocks adorned with rosettes. Stamped G. IACOB. Louis XVI period. 97 × 68 × 65 cm. (Cracks on the reverse of the backrest, formerly lacquered and stripped) Georges Jacob was admitted as a master joiner in Paris on 4 September 1765.
