Description
A liturgical chalice in 925‰ silver, partially gilded, with finely chiselled and re-engraved designs featuring plants, Christ, his apostles, saints and their symbols. Inscription beneath the base: ‘In memory of my father – In memory of my mother – 21 December 1879’. Minerva hallmark (1st standard), hallmark of Master Silversmith Alexandre Chertier (1825–1890) in Paris, struck on 14 April 1857, and a second hallmark of the silversmith within a cartouche. A Parisian piece dating from the late Second Empire or early Third Republic. Weight: 717.84 g. H.: 24.5 cm.
