Description
A female sculpture standing on a plinth or a fragment of a post. The arms are detached from the body. The heart-shaped face has eyes inlaid with shards of earthenware. The headdress consists of braids.
Wood with an aged patina from use, showing traces of white discolouration on the front.
Tsogho, Gabon.

This type of figure was housed in the Ebandza House of Worship, where the Bwiti cult was practised, which governed the lives of the Tsogho and Vuvi peoples.
