Collections: Museum of Modern Art, New York; Dallas Museum of Art; Victoria and Albert Museum, London. An Italian designer, Sabattini met Gio Ponti, who encouraged him to produce design pieces, exploring techniques of silversmithing. From 1956 to 1963, he was head of the Silversmithing Design department at Christofle in Paris. His signature appears on refined tableware — cutlery, candlesticks, vases — as well as on sculptures combining modernism and minimalism. Awards: Milan Triennale, Gold Medal (1971) and Golden Compass (1979) at the Mostra Internazionale del Arredamento in Monza (Italy). Upon specific request, the lot may be transported free of charge to our warehouse in Buc, or to our Paris premises (for small lots). See general terms and conditions of sale.
