Description
Camille FAURÉ (1874‒1956). An ovoid vase on a footring with a flared neck, crafted from copper-plated brass and named ‘Primerose’ according to the artist’s catalogue of forms. Rich, stylised Art Deco geometric decoration, consisting of thick, notched enamels with textured effects in shades of blue, white and black on a silver-coloured background. Chrome-plated metal band around the neck and foot. Handwritten gold signature around the rim of the base, Limoges, c. 1925. H.: 30 cm. Camille Fauré opened his artistic enamel workshop in Limoges in 1920 and, from 1925 onwards, began to direct his creations towards Art Deco trends, developing a distinctive style that is instantly recognisable. The non-figurative pieces were mainly produced between 1925 and 1930, as from 1929 onwards he gradually shifted his production towards flamed patterns and floral designs to appeal to a wider clientele.
