Description
Georges LAVROFF (Georgui Dimitrievitch LAVROV, 1895‒1991). Portrait of a young man, 1934. Bronze with a medallic patina. One-off piece. 16 × 23 cm. Cast from a modelled plaster model, this is the only bronze bas-relief recorded to date created by Lavroff during his stay in Paris. A recognised and highly regarded portraitist, his other bas-reliefs – of which there are very few – are carved directly from stone. We would like to thank Mr Pierre Kastelyn, a specialist in Georges Lavroff and an expert on his work, and author of books on the artist, for confirming the authenticity of this bronze and for the information he has provided us with regarding it.
