Abstract sculpture in gilded bronze.
Lost-wax casting, inscribed with ‘C. LEE’ in intaglio and bearing the Blanchet-Landowski foundry mark, c. 1970.

Caroline Lee studied at the Art Institute of Chicago until 1957. The following year, she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to go to Paris, where she settled. Her participation in the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture in 1961 brought her to the attention of the public and collectors, marking a turning point in her young career. She went on to exhibit in several galleries and numerous group exhibitions, showcasing her often monumental works in metal. A member of the Salon de Mai committee, she also taught sculpture at the Hyde Park Art Centre in Chicago. In 2006, she was awarded the Simone and Cino del Duca Foundation Prize for her entire body of work.
