Description
Attributed to Victor ROMAN (1937‒1995). Sculptural floor lamp in polished gilded bronze with a stylised, free-form design. Threaded fitting at the top for electrical connection. H.: 155 cm. (Signs of wear) Victor Roman, an artist of Romanian origin, was a graduate of the Bucharest School of Fine Arts, just like his famous compatriot Constantin Brancusi. In 1967, he left Romania on a scholarship and studied for a semester at the Royal College of Art in London, where he met Henry Moore, amongst others. The following year, he settled in France at the Hameau des Artistes, part of the National Foundation for Graphic and Plastic Arts in Nogent-sur-Marne. He created numerous monumental works, both public and private commissions, and his works can be found in many museums and public and private collections in France and abroad. He died suddenly in Paris in April 1995, aged just 58. Upon express request, the lot can be transported free of charge to our warehouse in Buc, or to our Paris premises (for smaller lots).
