MISTRAL Frédéric (1830–1914) Signed autograph letter to a friend, dated 19 November 1888. Transcription (original spelling retained): ‘Maillance, 19 November 1888 My dear ?, So many verses are blooming on the grave where our 19th century already ‘stinks’ that the literary soil would be exhausted if, according to the supreme law, the spring foliage did not emerge from the dead leaves.
