Jean-François Denière (1774–1866) Louis XVI style mantelpiece set In gilded bronze and white marble, comprising a clock with a dial signed Denière Dt de Bronzes flanked by a Cupid on a cloud imploring Venus to return his bow, resting on four ball-and-spindle feet. Two three-armed candelabra held by matching putti. Movement signed Denière Paris, engraved ‘Médaille d’argent 1855’ and numbered 3208 (winding key missing). First half of the 19th century. 39 x 41 x 12 cm
