A large, gilded bronze floor clock featuring a decoration depicting the allegory of Autumn, flanked by a cherub and a putto. Dial signed ‘RAINGO frères à Paris’, resting on a base decorated with foliage and winged female busts. String-wound movement. Mid-19th century. 58 x 34 x 19.5 cm.
Raingo Frères, founded in 1823, supplied the most distinguished figures of the era, including Emperor Napoleon III and his wife, Empress Eugénie, from 1860 onwards.
