A large CARTEL table in gilded bronze with so-called Boulle marquetry veneer, featuring a dial with enamelled plaques bearing Roman numerals, signed ‘TOSTAIN galeries de la Madeleine’, and adorned with a gilded bronze figure of Apollo on his chariot. The side panels are decorated with bronze caryatids and Atlanteans supporting a terrace surmounted by a seated Minerva. The base is decorated with a hunting scene in marquetry and lambrequins, resting on spindle legs and surmounted by four gilded bronze horses upon which the legs of the clock rest. Regency style, late 19th–early 20th century. 111 x 61.5 x 29 cm.
