J. Van Winghe was known for his still lifes and genre scenes.
During the exhibition at the Musée Jacquemart-André in 2010, organised in collaboration with the Brukenthal Museum (Romania), this painting was compared with its ‘twin’ held at the Brukenthal Museum. The curators and conservators present at the exhibition agreed on the painting’s date and workshop attribution.
