Description
Ushak carpet (cotton warp, wool weft and pile), Western Turkey. Circa 1900. (Wear and fraying.) Length: 386 cm; Width: 307 cm. The carpet is adorned with a large, multi-lobed, polychrome medallion, flanked by two pendants, set against a tobacco-coloured ground enhanced by a stylised polychrome floral design. A wide, old-red border featuring geometric floral motifs frames the composition.
